Wage Subsidy & the JobKeeper Allowance
Yesterday the Australian Government announced it will spend $130 billion to subsidise the wages of up to six million Australian’s during the coronavirus pandemic in an attempt to keep people from being forced into welfare.
The $130 billion JobKeeper payment will help keep Australians in jobs and assist with the significant economic impact from the coronavirus.
The JobKeeper payment will apply to full-time workers, part-time employees, sole traders and casual workers if they have been with a business for more than 12 months.
It will be paid to employers, for up to six months, for each eligible employee that was on their books on 1 March 2020 and is retained or continues to be engaged by that employer.
