Chamber seeks funding for 'Celebrate our Sea' to attract domestic overnight visitors
Celebrate our Sea is a new project developed by the Camden Haven Chamber of Commerce which aims to attract overnight domestic visitation to the Camden Haven and celebrate the unique ecological values of our coast.
This five-part project will include the design and installation of an art sculpture trail along the Beach to Beach Riverwalk featuring Camden Haven’s iconic ‘heroes of the sea’; the grey nurse shark, bottle-nose dolphin, turtle, stingray, bream and migrating humpback whale. The trail will include interpretive signage for each sculpture to tell the story of each species. The project also includes a 360 underwater video experience at the Laurieton Museum, educational programs and a responsible tourism campaign.
The project will create a new nature-based visitor attraction which celebrates the unique natural values of the Camden Haven, lay the foundations for nature-based product and experience development in the Camden Haven and create awareness and appreciation for our natural environment by connecting people with our sea through art, education and recreation.
Celebrate our Sea has received the support of key stakeholders including Beach to Beach Shared Pathway Committee, Camden Haven Historical Society, Greater Port Macquarie Tourism Association, Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, and state and federal representatives.
The Chamber is now actively seeking funding for Celebrate our Sea.
